How Mentorship Works

Our mentorship is personal, practical, and game-focused.

Officials can work with experienced mentors through:

  • Live game evaluations (in-person or video-based)
  • Film breakdowns and performance reviews
  • One-on-one mentorship sessions (30 or 60 minutes)
  • Ongoing individualized development plans, not one-off feedback

Every session is about actionable growth—positioning, judgment, communication, presence, and game management.

No fluff. No vague feedback. Just real coaching you can apply immediately.

Who It’s For

  • New officials who want confidence and guidance early
  • Developing officials looking to move up levels
  • Officials feeling stuck or frustrated with inconsistent feedback
  • Parents and families who want their official supported, not burned out
  • Leagues and organizations serious about improving officiating quality

If you care about getting better—and staying in the game—this is for you.

Why NextGen Is Different

Most officials quit not because they can’t skate or learn the rules—but because they feel unsupported.

NextGen exists to break that cycle.

We combine:

  • Real officiating experience
  • Honest, constructive feedback
  • A development-first mindset
  • Respect for the human behind the stripes

Our goal is simple: better officials, stronger games, and a healthier officiating pipeline .

Because the future of hockey depends on the people wearing the stripes—and they deserve better.
